The Presenters

Anita de Villiers      

Anita is a professional photographer and freelance photojournalist, specializing in travel. She has a Diploma in Photography and her portfolio focuses on natural and cultural history, travel, fine art, studio work and commercial photography. Her photo-articles on Africa’s fascinating cultures, wildlife and interesting places are published in national andl ocal magazines and papers.

She has several magazine cover pages to her credit. In 2009 she received two Caxton Excellence Awards for Writer of the Year and Best Written Feature. She presents digital photography workshops at her studio in Mtunzini in KwaZulu-Natal, and spearheaded the College of National Photography's new campus in Durban. She also co-presents workshops with Willem Oets in Durban. In September 2010, she launches a new workshop on Photography as Creative Medium in the Overberg.   www.anitadevilliers.co.za

Willem Oets
Willem has been a photographer since he was introduced to photography as a creative medium  in 1991. He developed as a landscape and abstract photographer but thanks to the advent of digital photography, he has discovered the magic of photographing people and now enjoys creating personal portrait portfolios. Willem teaches visual design and photography
and presents Digital Photography, Photoshop and audio-visual production workshops in his studio in his Durban. He also has a fine-art printing studio, speaks at photographic congresses and presents photography and visual design workshops in the Namib desert twice a year - www.willemoets.com

 

Anita de Villiers and Willem Oets present a 4 day creative photography workshop in the charming village of Vermaaklikheid in the Westrern Cape 

 

Vermaaklikheid is a tiny historical village in the Overberg region of the Western Cape. The Duivenhoks River cuts its way through fynbos-clad hills, passing the tiny settlement of Vermaaklikheid, eventually widening into the Duivenhoks Estuary that spills out into St Sebastian’s Bay.

  The workshop offers photographers the opportunity to work in small groups under the guidance of a professional photographer.
  The theme of the workshop is  Exploring Photography as a Creative Medium and the focus is on Fine Art Photography, Black and White, Landscapes & Seascapes and  Figures in Landscapes.
  Photoshop enhancement techniques include Panorama Stitching, Exposure Blending, HDR and Collage.
  Both beginners and advanced photographers are welcome to attend
  The workshop caters for digital photographers.
 

Evaluation and feedback on participants' work are given on a daily basis. 

   
  Accommodation
  Accommodation is in fully equipped houses and cottages in Vermaaklikheid and on Oshoek Farm
  Workshop fees:
 

Sharing accommodation: R6900
Single accommodation: R8150
Loft accommodation: R6450

The fee is per person and includes accommodation, meals, and workshop fees

Excluded are transport to and from Vermaaklikheid and  beverages other than tea and coffee

A deposit of 50% is payable on reservation. The balance is payable 30 days before commencement of the workshop. Internet bank payments are preferred. For bank and payment detail please refer to the Registration Form.

Bean Bag
Camera & lens cleaning kit
Laptop computer with Photoshop CS or Photoshop Elements loaded.
Card reader for faster downloading 
Memory cards, batteries and battery charger
Electrical extension lead and multi-plug

  What to bring:
  Warm clothes for the early morning excursions.
Hat or cap.
Sun block and mosquito repellent.
Torch and extra batteries.

How to get there:

From Cape Town, Johannesburg or Durban, take the N2 to Riversdale. In Riversdale take the road to Vermaaklikheid. This gravel road is sign posted for Vermaaklikheid. On arrival register at the Duivenhoks Restaurant next to the Post Office.
