This course is designed to improve your photographic skills to a more advanced level. It builds on the basic principles of the beginners’ course and includes aspects of flash, macro, the creative use of lenses, filters, etc. It introduces you to the work of Master Photographers and expands on the principles of composition and design. Basic Photoshop is also included in the course.

• Recap of camera and photography basics
• Advanced photography principles and techniques
• Working with light: ambient light, flash, other light sources
• Colour
• Creative use of lenses and filters: wide angle lenses, macro photography, etc
• Master Photographers
• Composition, design and visual communication
• Shooting RAW
• Introduction to Photoshop

COST R 2400 per person (Includes notes, tea/coffee).

DURATION

This course consists of three lessons that are presented on consecutive Saturday mornings, from 9:00 to 12:30. On completion of the course, students submit a portfolio. The group meet for a final evaluation and feedback session.

• Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) Camera with lenses
• Dedicated Flash

• Laptop computer with either Photoshop Elements (8 or 9) or Photoshop CS (4 or 5) loaded
